Christmas in Cuba

As I mentioned in my last post, I have lots to share from our Christmas in Cuba. For 9 days we were without laptops and any outside connection. It was just me and J, and full enjoyment in Cuba. It was SO nice to be in the sun and heat again, and to walk along the ocean, go swimming, and sip on fresh young coconuts. Winter came early for us up here in the north this year and I was in need of some sunshine. We went from -25C to 25C! Crazy!

We stayed at the lovely Iberostar Laguna Azul in Varadero, Cuba and were very impressed with this all inclusive resort. We read many reviews, watched youtube videos, and looked at photos before choosing to stay here. They weren't showing anymore ocean view suites when we booked the trip, but upon arrival the bed in our suite was caved in on one side and the shower leaked!!!  - so we were bumped to ocean view. Woo hoo!

We were happy we decided to go for a suite. It was so spacious. A living room with a kitchen table, big bedroom, 2 bathrooms, and walk in closet.

The king size bed was too big for us (we're used to a queen which is perfect). One night I woke up and thought J was gone... I couldn't hear him anywhere and no lights were on. I panicked and yelled out "Hunny?!" ... he woke up in a startle on the other side of the bed, haha.

Who doesn't love a big bathroom?! Wish mine at home was this big.

You can't tell in the pic, but J is enjoying his first pina colada as we got settled in.

The view from our balcony was fantastic.

We were so excited to get down to the beach!

Every morning we enjoyed walks along the beach. It's one of my favorite things to do... the ocean gives off such a powerful and beautiful energy.

Just about to dip into the ocean for the first swim!

Gorgeous sunset skies every night as we walked along the beach.

Have you ever skipped Christmas and gone somewhere tropical? We both agree that while we loved our getaway, we did miss a traditional Christmas. Stay tuned for more in another post on our vacation.

In regard to my new year sugar cleanse, I'm into my 4th day and am going strong! Not a craving at all and I'm feeling great. Thanks for your comments and support, it looks like a few people are doing the same thing and I hope you'll continue to share... or maybe you want to jump in too!

  3. Oh, that story of the king-size bed cracks me up! I bet I'd do the same; even with a double bed I stay curled up in a corner, so a king would seem huge to me :P

  9. There's that cute couple again. Love all the photos. The place you stayed at is gorgeous. Sorry that you had so many issues with your first room, but it looks like it was worth it. Everything happens for a reason. You are a lucky lady :-)
